Hepatopulmonary syndrome (HPS) is defined by arterial blood oxygenation disturbances accompanying liver diseases. HPS develops due to the formation of intrapulmonary arteriovenous shunts and dilatation of the pulmonary vascular bed. Authors present the pathophysiology of HPS, clinical symptoms, methods of diagnostics and treatment including pharmacotherapy, interventional techniques and liver transplantation
