Hepatocellular carcinoma ( HCC ) is one of the most frequent and malignant disease worldwide. Among other environmental factors and style of life, hepatitis viruses, as the HBV or HCV are involved in the etiology of HCC. Both of these viruses are responsible for a wide spectrum of liver diseases and in some cases for extrahepatic manifestations. The liver injury caused by HBV or HCV range from healthy carrier state to acute and chronic hepatitis, cirrhosis and HCC. The pathomechanisms of hepatocellular carcinoma in relation to the chronic viruses infection is discussed.
