Abstract provided by Publisher
HCV genotype determines treatment response in HCV-infected patients. The aim of the study was the analysis of genotypes prevalence in 572 HCV-infected patients (358 adult, 164 children and 50 IVDUs co-infected with HIV). The most frequent HCV genotype among all studied was genotype 1, occurred at 408 patients (71.3%). Genotypes 3 and 4 stepped out with similar frequency (14.7 and 13.6% respectively). In adults and children like in whole group predominated genotype 1 (81% and 65% respectively),
in HCV-HIV co-infected patients genotype 3 (56%), among children genotype 4 stepped out frequently (32%).
