There is little evidence that coinfection with HBV or HCV affect HIV /AIDS progression, but a lot of published data that HIV coinfection is associated with faster progression of chronic HBV,HCV liver disease. The highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART,cART) improved the prognosis of HIV/AIDS disease but the complications of associated HBV, HBV/HDV, HCV liver diseases become more relevant. Moreover several HAART regimes have been associated with steatosis and drug-induced liver disease. Thus, liver diseases among HIV patients become major cause of illness and death.
