Liver disease has emerged as one of the major causes of morbidity and mortality among patients infected with HIV despite highly active antiretroviral therapy. This changes in epidemiology of HIV clinics are connected to the hepatotoxicity of drugs used in antiretroviral therapy regiment, frequent coinfection with HCV or HBV, and possible the direct interaction of HIV virus or soluble viral products with hepatocytes or other liver cells. The paper present the most important problems in regard with HIV and liver disease.
