Abstract provided by Publisher

Chronic hepatic diseases are a local and systemic processes. Etiologic factors (viruses,
toxins, autoimmunity), inducing liver failure, also influence other organs leading to consequences
distant in time and localization. Changes in the liver depend on the kind and force of
the damaging stimulus. Homeostasis disturbances caused by hepatic diseases have many consequences
as far as blood platelets are concerned. Blood platelets, due to their short lifetimes,
are sensitive cellular elements of the peripheral blood. Thus, severity of hepatic diseases can
be evaluated by observing platelets disturbances. Morphological tests of blood, as the directly
accessible tissue, can indirectly assess the stage of chronic hepatic disease advancement.
